The story began at the beging of summer with a girl named Miranda that have a normal life. One day the scientists predicted that an asteroid will hit the moon. For everybody it was the event of the year, so everybody went outside to see the phenomen. But the asteroid hits the moon harder than they have predict it, so the moon was getting closer and closer to the earth. At the begining it just seem that the moon is coming closer and that there were no danger appering.
But in the following days the situation is geting worse, the electricity goes of and there is thunderstorm and earthquake. Her mom came to school to bring her back to the house, in the car there is Jonny, her little brother, Mrs. Nesbits, their neighbor, and friend.They went to the store, but there were no more electrycity so they said 100$ for each wagon what ever there was in it, so her mom said take only caned vegetable, soup, candle, toilet paper, and matches. Then Miranda try to call her dad because he and her mom are divorced, but the phone is off.
Miranda's older brother, Matt, came back from college. It is the middle of summer and Jonny just left for basseball camp and Miranda's mom get the idea of rationat meal at two meal a day.
Jonny came back and as winter is comming, he and Matt went every day chopping wood. When winter came the temperatur is always under 0°Farenheight. They all move in the sunroom with the woodstove. Then the flue came and take Jonny, Matt, and there mom. They are nearly running out of food by febuary so Mirranda decided to left to live more food for the other. She decided to died in town but it was difficult to get there, because of the snow. Once she get there, a man come and said that the state was donating food, he asked her how many pepole were in her family, she said four so he started giving her four bag of food every week.
